The Eden area includes the incorporated cities of Hayward and San Leandro, as well as the unincorporated communities of Castro Valley, San Lorenzo, Ashland, Cherryland and Fairview. The area “became known as the ‘Heart of the Garden of Eden‘” in the early 1900s “because of its temperate climate and fertile soil.”
