NEWARK, Calif. — Costco’s new warehouse is opening in Newark tomorrow.
The 152,000-square-foot warehouse is located at 350 Newpark Mall Road, adjacent to Newpark Mall, and is set to open its doors at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, according to a Costco press release. In addition to its usual bakery, deli and produce departments, the warehouse includes a 32-pump gas station, an optical department with an independent optometrist, pharmacy, hearing aid center and more. The warehouse is also set to offer travel and auto buying services.
“We are thrilled to be bringing Costco’s low warehouse prices to the residents of Newark,” warehouse manager Jose Salas said in a statement. “They have been asking us to open here for a long time, and we already have made an impact on the local job market. We look forward to contributing to the community in many ways.”
The Newark location, which is four miles from the Fremont Costco and 10 miles from the Hayward Costco, is expected to employ between 400 to 450 people. Residents will need a membership card, which start at $60 per year, in order to access the Costco warehouse and its deeply discounted bulk products.
This will be the Issaquah, Washington-based company’s 135th Costco location in California, the 597th in the U.S. and the 868th in the world.
Store hours are set to be 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends.
